Open Letter To “Victims Advocates”

An Open Letter To “Victims Advocates”

Next time a child sex assault survivor comes to you for help or guidance tell them this, “I’m not really a victim’s advocate, I just play one on TV….Like a spokesperson or Access Hollywood host. I have no intention of getting involved authentically and risk losing out on my gravy train, but here’s a list of 5 resources you can call for actual help.”

There. It’s easy. You didn’t have to do anything and you didn’t waste their time.

Also, if you want find out what they know and use sexual assault victims to further your agenda, and pretend like you’re going to help them, please follow the basic decency rules below.

  1. Don’t interrupt survivors while they’re trying to read their sexual assault statement out loud to you for the first time to tell them their child rape story is boring and to take parts out.

2. Don’t call sexual assault victims “conspiracy theorists” if they’ve been attacked as a child by someone who is from Washington D.C. and by someone who has worked in the White House.

3. Don’t string someone along or give them misleading cues that you actually are going to do something worthwhile to stop evil with your vast resources, privilege, connections and professional experience.

        4. Do tell sexual assault victims who come to you for help that you’re not going to help them or do anything to jeopardize your narrative, ego or cash flow from the studios immediately so they can move on and find someone who can.

There’s a bunch of good lawyers and advocates in the world who’ve accomplished great things for America and democracy, but it’s not you.

Thank you,
Morgain
